Your support and enthusiasm for our initiatives and your participation in the diverse activities that the American Society of Cali has organized during 2011 has been our inspiration for putting together an interesting and varied program of activities.
Endowment Fund – INSA
The Board would like to give special recognition to our fellow member, Ernesto De Lima Lefranc, for his excellent counsel and initiative in obtaining the assistance of Ogilvy & Mather, a prestigious Multinational Advertising Agency, in helping us by creating a professional video presentation of INSA. This presentation is a key element in creating enthusiasm and support for the establishment of an Endowment Fund to ensure the future financial stability of INSA so that this fine school may continue to provide a quality education to the boys and girls of economic strata 1 and 2 who come from the area of Agua Blanca where INSA is located.
Bingo in benefit of The Sala Ana Frank
On October 22 The American Society of Cali participated in the traditional Bingo in benefit of The Sala Ana Frank organized by the Jewish Community. Congratulations to our dear member, Ruthy Klahr, and her committee for this very worthy event held at the hotel Dann Carlton.
Thanksgiving Dinner – November 18, 2011
Once again Bernardo and Mariela Jiménez extended their warm hospitality by inviting our members and friends to their home in Pance to celebrate the popular Thanksgiving holiday with a delicious evening of food, wine and good friends. This special occasion was made possible by the kind help of Carulla Gourmet of Pance, Global Wines, Floristería Patricia, Casa Roma, Familia, Colegio Bolivar and Nicolás Mendez who provided the musical entertainment.
On November 26th, with the cooperation of the Tennis Committee from the Club Campestre, we held our First Tennis Tournament and Year–End Party. Our good friend and fellow board member, Franciso David (Pachito) was the inspiration behind this event.
We extend a special thanks to Miguel Tejada, President of Club Campestre and the members of the Club’s Tennis Committee for making this event a resounding success. In addition to offering us 19 tennis courts along with technical and logistical assistance, they also invited us to join them in their traditional year-end Club Tennis Players Party. The results of this first effort guarantee our return next year for the II Tennis Tournament

High School Graduation at The Institute of Our Lady of the Assumption- INSA
On December 3rd we had the privilege of attending the High School graduation ceremony of 40 young boys and girls at INSA followed by an elegant sit-down dinner offered by the school’s directors in honor of the graduates and their families.
The graduation ceremony was especially significant for the members of The American Society of Cali who attended. Eight of the graduating students were sponsored by our Plan Padrino Insa: Daniela Masabel Pineda, Maria Fernanda Ledezma, Jennifer Valencia, Luisa Maria Sanchez, Marcela Arias, Johanna Quiñones, Angie Bernal and Diana Carolina Velasquez.
The academic excellence at INSA along with its Program for Family Development, the exemplary help extended to the community and the fact that the great majority of the graduates from this school continue their education at institutes of higher learning, constitutes a great stimulus to The American Society to continue supporting and strengthening the efforts made by Father Francisco Amico, Rector of the Institute, and his staff.
On December 9th we celebrated our traditional Christmas Dinner at the Hotel Dann Carlton. As always, the food was great and the company was even better. We would like to thank Fernando Salazar, the Hotel Dann Carlton, Restaurant Petite France, Almacenes la 13, Optica Alemana, Atuendos and Cristales Arita for their excellent raffle prizes.

Fondo de Beneficencia
En nombre de la Junta Directiva quisiera presentar un reconocimiento especial a nuestro socio, Ernesto De Lima Lefranc, por sus excelentes consejos e iniciativas el haber vinculado a la multinacional Ogilvy & Mather al proyecto de constitución del Fondo de Beneficencia y la constitución de la Corporación Educación Popular INSA para garantizar la continuidad del Instituto Nuestra Señora de la Asunción – INSA y de esta forma contribuir a mejorar la calidad de la educación básica primaria y bachillerato de los niños y niñas.
Bingo a Beneficio de la Sala Ana Frank
El 22 de octubre The American Society Of Cali, participo en la celebración del tradicional Bingo a beneficio de la Sala Ana Frank organizado por la comunidad Hebrea. Felicitamos a nuestra socia Ruty Klahr y al comité organizador por el éxito del evento realizado en el Hotel Dann Carlton.
Cena de Accion de Gracias
Bernardo y Mariela Jiménez nos recibieron con su cálida hospitalidad en su casa campestre de Pance el viernes 18 de noviembre para celebrar la cena de Acción de Gracias. Fue una ocasión muy especial y apoyaron nuestra celebración Carulla Gourmet de Pance, Global Wine, Floristería Patricia, Casa Roma, Familia, Colegio Bolívar y Nicolás Méndez con la ambientación musical.
I Torneo de Tenis
y Fiesta de IntegraciOn de Fin de AÑo
El 26 de noviembre, conjuntamente con el Comité de Tenis del Club Campestre de Cali, realizamos nuestro I TORNEO DE TENIS Y FIESTA DE INTEGRACIÓN SOCIAL liderado por Francisco David, miembro de Junta Directiva.
Agradecemos a Miguel Tejada, presidente y miembros del Comité de Tenis del Club Campestre de Cali, pues además de ofrecernos 19 canchas de tenis y asesoría técnica y logística, se vincularon para celebrar conjuntamente la fiesta de integración tenística de fin de año, con resultados muy positivos garantizándonos la realización del II Torneo de Tenis en el año 2012.

El sábado tres (3) de diciembre asistimos a la solemne ceremonia de grado de cuarenta (40) nuevos bachilleres del INSA y a la cena ofrecida por los directivos del instituto en honor de los graduados y sus familias. Fue especialmente significativa la ceremonia para quienes asistimos en representación de The American Society Of Cali. Ocho (8) de los estudiantes graduados fueron beneficiarios del programa Plan Padrino Insa: Daniela Masabel Pineda, Maria Fernanda Ledezma, Jennifer Valencia, Luisa Maria Sanchez, Marcela Arias, Johanna Quiñones, Angie Bernal y Diana Carolina Velasquez.
La excelencia académica de INSA, su ejemplar programa de formación integral, el apoyo a la comunidad y el ingreso a la Universidad de la mayoría de los estudiantes, constituyen para The American Society Of Cali un gran estímulo para promover y fortalecer las acciones lideradas por el Padre Francisco Amico, Rector del Instituto y su grupo de colaboradores.
